The Horror of 'No Minors Allowed' Breweries

Just like going to the grocery store alone as a parent, sometimes you just have to go to a 21+ only establishment.  Usually, I'm annoyed by a brewery that doesn't allow minors.  I want to try their beer, but I am stuck with these adorable human spawn and therefore I probably wont see them for like another 18 years. The audacity! Don't they want my super well behaved, quiet, perfectly distracted kids at their brewery?! It's not like they run around the place, stare at people, dump all the board games out, and make me scream "knock it off" and "get back over here" for all the patrons to be startled by. NOT MY KIDS! Okay, maybe sometimes. So when you have a baby sitter, a mom minute alone, and dare I say it, a date night with your significant other, there is nothing better than going to a minor unfriendly place!      This week grandma was visiting. AKA the best damn babysitter ever! So mom and dad got away kid-less, twice! Structures Brewing ha

Twin Sisters Brewery, A Beer Garden Paradise for Moms

Twin Sisters Brewery opened a year ago in the Sunnyland Neighborhood of Bellingham, WA. After quite a few adjustments in their outdoor beer garden over the past year, it is finally optimal for beer drinkers of all types, especially moms! Here are a few reason's I flock to Twin Sisters on a day when mommy craves a beer and the kids need to run off some energy. The main building itself is a very large industrial building boasting of many windows, a private loft for parties (is it okay to have my kids birthday parties there? Kidding, Sort of...), and large garage doors to welcome the fresh air inside. But it's the beer garden outback that sells this brewery and makes this a busy spot for families with kids. The brewery has really worked hard at being a good neighbor in this part neighborhood/part industrial side of town. With permission from the city and some smart parking lot planning, we haven't had a problem finding parking that doesn't annoy the neighbors.

'Hopping' on the Mom Group train, kinda...

Hi I am Shanna. The mother of all PNW Beer Moms.  Here I will give you some insight of why I decided to start yet another mom group and why it is different and why there was a hole I felt needed to be filled. And I shall do it in the most ridiculous way I can think of, by interviewing myself.   I met myself on a Monday....errr Tuesday, turns out it is Tuesday morning, still in my pajamas as I didn't feel like hearing my toddler scream for me for the millionth time already today because I had seemingly 'disappeared'. I had plugged my oldest, fournado of a daughter, into Wildkrats because it's educational and distracting and I need her distracted.  My youngest, already terrible 23 months old (that's one month shy of 2 years for you annoyed non math folks), is busy running around breaking and pouring (child proof) stuff out because she feels I have nothing better to do then clean up after her for my own sanity and her amusement. She's also still
